Former PM Yasuo Fukuda

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda said it is about time for politicians both in Japan and China to focus more on the bright side of the inseparable relations between the two countries, so as not to threaten the nascent rapprochement.

"As we know from past experiences, political relations have a significant influence on how people in Japan and China view each other," Fukuda said in his keynote speech at a forum in Beijing attended by more than 50 experts of the two countries according to Kyodo News Agency on Saturday.

"So, politicians in both countries should refrain from sending negative assessments of the other side," he added.
