The first 1,000 Syrian refugees to be resettled in the UK have now arrived in the country, David Cameron has said, according to the BBC.

The prime minister told MPs that Britain was "doing its moral duty" in funding refugee camps and he had fulfilled his pledge to bring the first 1,000 Syrians to the UK by Christmas.

Charter flights have arrived in Glasgow, London Stansted and Belfast, and another is expected later.
The government has promised to accept 20,000 "vulnerable" Syrians in the UK.

These will be drawn from established refugee camps, initially as part of the vulnerable persons relocation scheme.
