The Freedom and Justice Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, asserted its confidence that no one can take over the role of the police in providing security for the citizens. "We are confident in the patriotism and ability of the police in keeping security and facing any threat to Egypt's security and citizens' interests," the party's secretary general Hussein Ibrahim said in a tweet on Monday. We will not accept the role of the police to be taken over by any other side, he added. The remarks come after a decision by Prosecutor General Talaat Abdullah to give citizens the power of judicial arrest.
