Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left Cairo Wednesday heading for New York to attend the 2015 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference to kick off there early next week.
During the NPT conference, Shoukry will stress the importance of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, which is a different story than the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
The top diplomat will also reiterate the need to free the Middle East of weapons of mass destruction.
Shoukry will review Egypt's bid to win a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council in 2016-2017 as well.
MENA learnt Shoukry will meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments in Yemen.
He will also meet with European, Asian, African, American and Latin American officials.
