The French Foreign Ministry on Monday said it had issued a fresh call to French nationals to leave South Sudan where there have been violent ethnic clashes pushing the country to the brink of civil war. The call was issued through the French embassy in Juba and a number of people have already left the country. The Foreign Ministry said that around 50 nationals were still in Sudan, working mainly with humanitarian organisations. France is seeking to extract the bulk of these in the coming days, depending on flight availability and the situation on the ground. A number of French people are currently under the protection of United Nations forces deployed in South Sudan.
