French President Francois Hollande on Friday called on the United Nations to "play a still bigger role" in the strife-ridden Central African Republic's transition to democracy, his office said. In a telephone conversation with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Hollande "stressed that France's activity in Central Africa aims to protect the entire population from attacks against it, without distinction," the office said in a statement.
