French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius

France reiterated on Tuesday support for efforts exerted by Yemen's legitimate institutions to restore security and stability to the country.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius held a meeting Monday with his Yemeni counterpart Riyad Yassin and appreciated efforts exerted by UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry Roman Nadal said.

Fabius urged commitment to the UN Security Council resolution no. 2216, which calls for launching a comprehensive dialogue to end the Yemeni crisis politically.

They further stressed the importance of the humanitarian truce to dispatch supplies to the affected areas in Yemen.

Yemen has been engulfed in conflicts between Houthis and the government forces since early 2015.

In late March, a Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries began launching airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen at the request of the Yemeni president.
