France confirmed on Tuesday that the Libyan situation will be brought before the UN Security Council for debate on Wednesday, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Romain Nadal.
Nadal said that Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry was in New York for the UNSC meeting.
"The works of the Council will allow support for the stabilization efforts led by the United Nations Special Envoy, Bernardino Leon," the French spokesman said.
Egypt and France have urged the UN Security Council to take action to stop Libya being completely overrun by terrorism.
