Majority leader of the German Parliament (Bundestag) Volker Kauder said that his country backs Egypt's efforts to fight terrorism which poses threats to the security and stability of the Middle East.

In statements to MENA on Tuesday, he said that Egypt is the security valve of the Middle East and Europe.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met earlier with German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere and discussed with him security cooperation and also met with German International Cooperation Minister Gerd Müller on economic cooperation.
