German President Joachim Gauck called on the new government to shelter more Syrian refugees since his country can offer asylum to the civil-war stricken Syrians. This remark was made after President Gauck visited Friedland camp near Gottingen, where the Syrian refugees are staying. He listen to their traumatic personal stories and gave his word to exert all efforts in persuading the new government to take in more Syrian refugees, especially since his country can offer the needed help.
