Greece's parliament overwhelmingly elected centre-right moderate and ex-interior minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos as the country's new president.
Pavlopoulos, 64, won in a landslide victory with 233 votes in the 300-seat parliament, well beyond the 180 needed to avoid a run-off.
The only other presidential candidate, proposed by the moderate Potami party and socialist PASOK party, Nicos Alivizatos, a professor of Constitutional Law, failed to garner enough support with only 30 votes. Another 32 lawmakers abstained.
