Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Aframpoulos left today for Berlin on a visit to Germany described as crucial to the survival of Greece in the euro area. The Greek Foreign Minister’s visit comes in preparation for the planned Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will hold on Friday in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss greek’s debts. According to Athens News, national debt rises to 303 bn euros, up from 280 bn at the end of March 17 Aug 2012. Central government debt reached 303.53 billion euros as of June 30, rising by 23.2 billion from March 31, finance ministry data showed on Friday. Central government data differ from general government debt figures, which are used to calculate the country’s debt-to-GDP ratio under eurozone rules. According to the figures, the overwhelming part of borrowing in the first six months of the year was from the government’s official creditors .
