The ambassadors of the ten countries sponsoring the Gulf initiative on Yemen have welcomed the recent signing by political groups of a document involving a just solution to the issue of South Yemen. The solution document was signed by a number of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) components on December 24, while other groups inked it last Wednesday. The ten countries' ambassadors welcomed, in a joint statement, the important clarifications contained in the communiqu{ of the NDC Presidium's meeting held on January 7. The consensus reached by the NDC components marks an advanced step toward the success of the national dialogue process and the implementation of the remaining items of Gulf initiative according to its mechanism executive, according to the statement. They hoped that the NDC's final plenary session would conclude before debating the Yemeni dossier at the UN Security Council's meeting scheduled for January 28, it added. They also commended the spirit of cooperation and consensus among the dialogue's components, adding that the Gulf initiative's sponsor countries will condemn any attempts to undermine the transition process in Yemen in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
