U.K. Foreign Secretary William Hague on Thursday met with U.S. Senator John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, for talks on Middle East developments, including the situation in Gaza, a U.K. Foreign Secretary statement said. The meeting also discussed Iran’s nuclear program amid intensifying invitations to open dialogue channels with Tehran in this regard. The sides also touched on the Syrian crisis, with both countries openly supporting the Syrian opposition towards a power transfer that ends the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.
