H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and U.A.E. Minister of Finance, today received Jimmy Carter, former US President and Chairman of Carter Foundation and the delegation accompanying him, at Zabeel Palace. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of humanitarian issues and the role of the charity and medical institutions and authorities in helping the needy people in various regions of the world, particularly the Third World. Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the terms and objectives of the agreement between the Carter Foundation and Noor Dubai Foundation regarding cooperation and coordination between them to launch a campaign of treatment of 18 million people infected with trachoma in different areas of the Republic of Ethiopia. The meeting was attended by Issa Mohammed Al Maidoor, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Noor Dubai Foundation, a number of officials of the Foundation and the Hamdan bin Rashid Medical Award.
