Hedayah, the International Centre of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism, recently received the Rt. Hon Tobias Ellwood, MP, Under-Secretary of State at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office with special responsibility for the Middle East and North Africa, and his accompanying delegation, including Stephanie Al-Qaq, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Hedayah Steering Board, stressed the importance of the visit of the British Under-Secretary of State to the centre, as it comes within the framework of strengthening the strategic partnership with the United Kingdom as one of the International Steering Board of Hedayah, in addition to its joint presidency with the United Arab Emirates in the working group to combat violent extremism of the Global Counterterrorism Forum.

Maqsoud Kruse, Executive Director of Hedayah, provided a detailed presentation on Hedayah’s message, objectives and achievements, in addition to reviewing the most important activities of the various initiatives in the main centre sections.

The British official expressed his happiness with the programmes achieved and led by the Hedayah centre as a first research and practical institution in the fight against violent extremism. He also hailed the initiatives of the United Arab Emirates in this area.
