Ifta House will host a two-day international conference on Aug 17-18 on "Fatwa: Troubles of Present, Prospects for the Future."

The conference will be under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Advisor to the Mufti Dr. Ibrahim Negm said the conference will be held within days from the opening of the New Suez Canal.

Egypt has resumed its political and economic leadership role, he added.

Fatwa, or religious edict, needs improvement after times of chaos towards modern fatwas, or religious edicts, he noted.

A number of initiatives will be launched during the conference to set the tempo of fatwas, he said.

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb will attend the conference that will see a host of Ulema, preachers and Muftis from 50 countries.

Also, a number of ministers, ambassadors and men of state from 50 countries will attend the event.
