The second phase of the food aid project to Syrian refugees in the Lebanon started on Monday with the Kuwaiti-based International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) providing food assistance to 1,200 Syrian refugee families located in Tripoli and other northern cities. Lebanon's Zakat and Charity House, in charge of distributing the aid to the displaced people, lauded in a statement Kuwait's role and support in the Syrian people. The statement noted that the IICO efforts and big relief projects help reduce the suffering of the displaced in various fields, expressing appreciation to Kuwait's leadership, government and people. Last Wednesday, Kuwait Red Crescent Society announced delivering further aid to Syrian refugees in North Lebanon as part of ongoing efforts to reduce their suffering and hardships. The society envoy in Lebanon, Dr. Musaed Al-Enezi, said in a statement to KUNA volunteers distributed the material assistance, including mattresses and blankets, to 1,000 Syrians in mountainous district Al-Dennieh, located in the heights east of the port city of Tripoli, to help them cope with cold weather. Kuwait various charity and public institutes are considered one of the prominent aid contributors to Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
