India strongly condemned the assassination of Egyptian Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat after targeting his procession by a booby-trapped car Monday.

According to a statement by the Indian embassy in Cairo, India offered condolences to the family of the late official.

In the statement, India asserted siding with Egypt in its war against terror.
