Indonesia postponed Friday the execution of two Australian drug smugglers for three weeks to a month, Sky News reported.
Jakarta justified the delay for reasons, described as "technical."
Vice President Jusuf Kalla's office Friday said the execution of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, the ringleaders of the so-called "Bali Nine" heroin trafficking group, "will be delayed for between three weeks to a month from now due to technical reasons," without elaborating further.
Australia's Prime Minister Tony Abbott has warned Indonesia it's not in the country's best interest to execute two Australian drug smugglers on death row.
Indonesian authorities, which interpreted Abott's remarks as a threat, insist they will proceed with the executions despite this delay.
