Tehran - KUNA
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Wednesday Western powers have an erroneous impression about impact of sanctions on Iran. Quoted by the official news agency, IRNA, Zarif said during a meeting with the visiting British former foreign secretary, Jack Straw, "Impression of some foreign parties about effect of the curbs is wrong and the Islamic Republic of Iran has proven that it does not bow to pressure. Reaching an understanding with these powers on the Iranian nuclear issue is "very easy," Zarif said adding that "building mutual confidence is necessary to reach an understanding" in this regard. Straw, the head of the Iranian-British parliamentary friendship group, expressed his views with Zarif about bilateral ties, nuclear issue, regional affairs and ties between Tehran and the European Union. He also indicated at necessity to exert further efforts to improve the Iranian-British ties -- the icy relations have recently thawed.
