Iran's President Hassan Rouhani condemned any foreign intervention in Syria, and underlined that the only way out of the crisis in the Muslim country is boosting diplomatic efforts to end ongoing bloodshed there as soon as possible. Speaking at a meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Tehran on Monday, President Rouhani voiced grave concern over the presence of professional terrorists from various regional and trans-regional countries in the conflict-stricken Muslim state. “We (Iran and Lebanon) share common views on Syria and believe that problems in the country should be resolved through dialogue and political initiatives,” the Iranian president underscored. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country. Tens of hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes. The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad. Tel Aviv, Washington, Ankara and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots to topple President Bashar al-Assad, who is well known in the world for his anti-Israel stance.
