Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) has provided the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with information on its new generation of centrifuges. This second generation, meant to enhance level of uranium enrichment, has been placed under the inspection of the UN nuclear watchdog in line with a recent deal between Tehran and the P5+1 group, local press quoted IAEO Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi as saying on Saturday. This generation is locally developed in consistency with the tendency of the IAEO to increase the amount of nuclear fuel needed to operate civilian nuclear plants, he pointed out. Kamalvandi affirmed that the researches relating to nuclear technology will continue to maximize benefit from the existing infrastructure for meeting the country's needs of electricity. He added that Iran aims to generate up to 20,000 megawatts of electricity in the long run. In a related development a team from the IAEA has arrived here earlier today to inspect the heavy water moderated research reactor in Arak, central Iran. The inspection is in line with a cooperation framework, signed on November 11 by IAEO Director Ali Akbar Salehi and IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano.
