Iranian supreme leader's top aide Ali Akbar Velayati said there are historic ties binding the two peoples of Iran and Egypt. "There are no obstacles for boosting these ties," he said in his meeting with members of Egyptian media delegation currently visiting Tehran. He said Iran and Egypt are pillars of the Islamic world and they have many vested interests. The former foreign minister called on Iranian and Egyptian officials to set together for boosting bilateral ties. "We are hoping there will be strong ties between the Iranians and Egyptians, there are no tangible obstacles for developing these ties," he said.
