Iraq is concerned about operations conducted by the Turkish army in border areas in the north of the country.

Such operations could horrify Iraqi citizens living in villages on the border with Turkey, said Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari on Tuesday.

At a meeting with Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad Faruk Kaymakcı, Jaafari feared human casualties and material damage might occur as a result of the operations.

He urged Ankara to coordinate with his government about operations in the border areas.

Jaafari said Iraq is keen on maintaining Turkey's internal stability and security of its citizens.

He was pleased with Ankara's decision to use its air bases to strike the Daesh terrorist organization.
