Turkish workers seized in Iraq

The Iraqi interior ministry stressed on Wednesday support for Baghdad Operations Command in its attempts to arrest outlaws and bring back the 16 Turkish construction workers, who were kidnapped in Sadr city earlier in the day.

Baghdad Operations Command spokesman Saad Maan said eight kidnap gangs and other terrorist cells were arrested in different parts of Iraq in the past period.

The kidnapped workers were hired by a Turkish company to build a sports stadium in the north-eastern Sadr City district.

Efforts are underway to bring back the kidnapped, a security source said.
