Iraqi’s Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi on Tuesday met with the UN Secretary-General’s Representative in Iraq Martin Cobler. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the political developments in Iraq, especially the issue of Kirkuk elections and the political dispute between the federal government and Kurdistan province. According to a press statement, al-Nujaifi said that not holding the elections in Kirkuk will worsen the situation, stressing that the UN must offer advice and consultancy to all sides, and bring viewpoints closer if an agreement fails to crystalize.
