A member of the coalition security forces in eastern Afghanistan was shot and killed by militants Monday, the NATO International Security Assistance Force said. A coalition statement said the "service member died after direct fire attack by enemy forces." The statement did include any other information about the attack, its location or the nationality of the person killed, Khaama Press reported. The death raised the number of coalition troops killed in Afghanistan this year to 157, reported ICasualties.org, which tracks the NATO forces casualties in Afghanistan. ISAF officials said they were still investigating last week's deaths of six U.S. service members whose Blackhawk helicopter crashed in southern Zabul province. Coalition officials said there were no reports of enemy activity at the time of the crash. Last year, 402 ISAF troops were killed in Afghanistan.
