Secretary General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri praised statements made on Monday by Pope Francis of the Vatican during his visit to the central mosque in the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR) Bangui.

In press statements on Tuesday, Towjri said that the Pope's remarks emanated from the principles of the Buenos Aires declaration issued last September.

Pope Francis has told worshipers in the mosque that "Christians and Muslims are bound by fraternal relations".

He was speaking to Muslims who had sought shelter in Bangui after nearly three years of violence between Christians and Muslims.
