The Islamic-Christian Commission in Support of Jerusalem and Holy Sites considered the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem decision to confiscate 1800 meters of the southern land of Bab Al-Rahma cemetery in Jerusalem a new aggression on Waqf and holy sites. The commission said in a statement on Sunday that Israel is violating the sanctity of Muslims and Christians’ holy sites in Jerusalem through attacking mosques, churches and other places of worship, as well as through attacking the dead in their graves. It added that the confiscation of the cemetery’s land is an attempt to Judiaze it and establish tourist pathways and Talmudic landmarks to erase its Islamic Arab character, noting that the confiscation was accompanied by the building of fake Jewish graves in the vicinity of al-Aqsa mosque which is part of the Israeli policy to Judiaze Jerusalem. Secretary General of the commission Hanna Issa warned of the accelerated Israeli steps that target the identity of Jerusalem in addition to its religious and historical symbolism, calling for the conservation of Arab history and heritage.
