Israel maintained the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the face of Muslim worshipers for the second straight day.

The holy shrine will remain closed until Thursday as Jews mark the High Holy Days, a 10-day period that begins with Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year - 5776) and culminates in Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).

The mosque's director Monzer Abul-Filat slammed banning prayer call (or azan) in an attempt to Judaize the holy shrine.
