Israel opens Karam Abu Salem crossing

Israeli forces exceptionally opened Karam Abu Salem crossing on Thursday to pump fuel into the Gaza Strip, head of border crossings for the Palestinian Authority, Nazmi Mehana said in a press statement Thursday.

The Israeli authorities have allowed more fuel into the enclave after power cuts in some Israeli power lines and severe shortage of fuel that feeds the only power plant in the Gaza Strip, he added.

Karm Abu Salem is considered to be the only commercial crossing through which goods and fuel enter into Gaza, but Israeli authorities close it every week on Friday and Saturday.
