Israel has sought help of Palestinian firefighters via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to douse a fire near the Israeli Sofa crossing east of Rafah, a Palestinian official said on Friday.

Raed al Dahshan, the spokesman for Gaza's civil defense, said a firefighting team was prepared, but the mission was cancelled after contact with the ICRC.
