Israel will close the Karam Abu Salem crossing in the southeast of Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning due to the Jewish holidays, Palestinian sources reported Monday.

Director of the Palestinian crossings authority Nathmi Mhanna said that the crossing would be closed for one week, to be reopened on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Mhanna added that the crossing will be opened on Thursday, Friday and Sunday only to pump fuel and cooking gas needed for the power plant and private companies into the Gaza Strip.

The crossing was recently closed over the Jewish new year holiday.

Karem Abu Salem is the only commercial crossing through which goods and fuel enter the Gaza Strip.
