Ramallah - KUNA
A number of Palestinians including Islamic studies students were injured during confrontations with the Israeli Army in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Holy Mosque. Around 200 Jewish settlers broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards through Al-Magharebah Gate, guarded by Israeli Army soldiers, while a number of Palestinian Al-Aqsa defenders confronted them, eye witnesses said on Sunday. Al-Aqsa defenders groups a number of Palestinians and other activities who decided to stay in Al-Aqsa courtyards to defend the Holy Mosque form such frequent Israeli incursions. A total of 10 Palestinians were arrested following scuffles with Israeli soldiers, eye witnesses added. Al-Aqsa courtyards suffered several incursions by radical Jewish settlers in recent days, following the Jewish celebration of Passover. The Jewish people celebrate Passover as a commemoration of their liberation over 3,300 years ago by God from slavery in ancient Egypt under the rule of the Pharaohs, and their birth as a nation under the leadership of Prophet Moses. This religious holiday commemorates the story of the Exodus as described in the Hebrew Bible especially in the Book of Exodus.
