Gaza City - MENA
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) dismissed Friday Israeli accusations that it fired four rockets at the Upper Galilee from Golan Heights as void. Speaking to reporters outside the International Committee of the Red Cross, PIJ's political office member Mohamed al Hendi, meanwhile, vowed retaliation if news about Israel targeting a car carrying five members in Syria proved to be correct. Israel said it killed at least five Palestinian fighters in an air strike on the Syrian Golan Heights on Friday, after cross-border rocket fire from Syria prompted the heaviest Israeli bombardment since the start of Syria's four-year-old civil war. An Israeli defense official said the people killed in Friday's air strike were Palestinians from the Islamic Jihad. Four rockets were fired from Syria into northern Israel on Thursday afternoon.
