Israeli warships opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats off Gaza Strip on Sunday morning with no casualties reported.

Local sources said the Israeli side justified the attacks by claiming that the fishing boats had sailed into areas not allowed for fishing, exceeding the six-nautical-mile zone.

The warships opened heavy fire at fishing boats off the coast of several areas in the Gaza Strip Sunday morning, said the Palestinian Network.

According to the local source, the warships targeted fishing boats off the coast of the town Beit Lahiya as well as an area in northwest Gaza.

Israeli naval boats regularly open fire on Palestinian fishermen sailing within the six-nautical-miles zone and farmlands along the border, clearly violating the ceasefire deal reached after the Gaza war last summer.
