A Palestinian man was shot and wounded Monday before being arrested by an Israeli army force at an Israeli army roadblock in the West Bank, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

Palestinian security sources in the West Bank said that Israeli soldiers arrested a Palestinian after opening fire and wounding him in the leg at an Israeli army roadblock south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

Israeli Public Radio, which quoted an Israeli army spokesman, reported that the Palestinian young man pushed one of the soldiers at the roadblock and ran away, adding that he was shot and arrested.

The radio added Israeli paramedics provided first aid to the man after he was shot.

The Israeli army has been launching intensive daily security campaigns in the West Bank. Palestinians said that dozens were killed, wounded and arrested in these campaigns.

Since last week, three Palestinians were killed in northern and southern West Bank, in addition to the killing an 18-month-old toddler in a Jewish arson attack on a family house near Nablus on Friday.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned that if Israel keeps carrying out a violent policy against the Palestinians in the West Bank, the Palestinian stances and positions would be changed.
