Italian coast guard officials rescued about 100 migrants Sunday after they sent off a distress signal when their boat encountered rough waters. Those rescued included many women and children. The rough weather conditions prompted rescuers to send out multiple vessels and helicopters in the effort, dpa reported. The rescue comes just two days after Italian officials rescued 370 people off the coast.
