The Italian Parliament has congratulated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Egyptian people on the inauguration of the New Suez Canal.

Speaking to MENA on Friday, the chairman of the foreign affairs committee at the Italian parliament said the New Suez Canal reflects a strategic vision for a bright future of Egypt in the investment and trade fields.

The new shipping lane will boost international trade after its capacity was increased, he added.

The New Suez Canal opened on Thursday with the attendance of a large number of world leaders.
