Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni condemned the assassination of Egypt's Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat in a terrorist attack on his convoy earlier in the day.

In a statement released here on Monday, the Italian top diplomat voiced solidarity with the Egyptian government and people in standing against terrorism.
