Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi stressed that there is no military solution to the Syrian crisis, emphasizing at the same time that a political solution can not succeed without the involvement of Russia. Terzi said in a press statement, to Unita daily newspaper, on Tuesday that the political solution is a hard task but an important factor for the peacekeeping mission, for which Italy has been wishing. He explained that deploying a peacekeeping mission requires UN Security Council approval, adding that this necessarily means the involvement of Russia, which remains a daunting task that needs to be pursued.
