A group of senior Japanese lawmakers from ruling and opposition parties arrived Monday in Beijing with the hope of keeping up momentum for increased exchanges with China.

The three-day trip by the group comes as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks, the second in the last five months, on the sidelines of a regional summit in Jakarta on April 23, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

Amid further signs of thawing relations between Tokyo and Beijing, Abe and Xi at that time agreed to promote various exchanges, despite remaining political difficulties.

Tensions remain between the two Asian countries because of political and territorial disputes since long time.
