Japan expects Iran to play an important role for the stability and peace in the Middle East under president-elect Hasan Rowhani, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday. \"We hope the new Iranian government will conduct serious dialogues with the international community and make concrete progress towards a peaceful solution of its nuclear issues,\" the top government spokesman also told a press conference. Moderate cleric Rowhani won the country\'s presidential election over the weekend. \"Based on its traditional relationship with Iran, the Japanese government will continue to encourage Iran to conduct dialogues with the international community,\" Suga added.
