Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh on Sunday stressed the importance of Belgium’s participation in the international coalition to face extremism, Petra reported.

During a meeting with the Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, both foreign ministers discussed international efforts to counter terror and extremist groups.

Talks also focused on the latest regional developments, including events in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Libya, where they highlighted the importance of reaching political solutions to these countries' conflicts through dialogue.

On the Palestinian issue, Judeh said that Jordan is concerned with all final status issues and has interests in establishing a Palestinian state.

Also, the two sides reviewed the humanitarian situation of Syrian refugees in Jordan and the burdens they placed on the Kingdom, which hosts and provides services to them.

Judeh emphasized the importance of supporting Jordan, so it might continue its humanitarian duties.

The Belgian official also expressed his country's appreciation and support for Jordan's efforts, under the leadership of Jordanian King Abdullah II, and his pivotal role in achieving security and stability in the region.

He further voiced his country's keenness to continue coordination, consultation and cooperation with Jordan on various issues and challenges the two countries face.

In a statement following the meeting, Judeh noted the strong relations between King Abdullah II and King Philip of Belgium, pointing to both sides' work to counter terrorism and to revive Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.
