Jordan on Wednesday strongly condemned as gross violation of international law and conventions, Jewish settlers’ storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque yards. State Minister for Media Affairs and Communications, Samih Ma’ayta, said such violations run contrary to Islamic and Arabic historical facts of the Holy Mosque. Ma’ayta, who is also government’s spokesperson, called on Israel, as the occupying force, not to target holy places and ensure their safety. He said that Jordan holds Israel responsible for preventing extremist Israeli groups from perpetrating such rejected moves. The minister reiterated Jordan’s call on the international community to put an end to such violations and provide protection to Muslim and Christian sites in East Jerusalem. He added that such attacks fuel tension and violence in the region.
