Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed on Wednesday with the Quartet's Envoy to the Middle East Peace Process, Tony Blair, the progress in the US-sponsored peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis. During the meeting, Judeh reiterated the importance of making every effort to ensure the success of these negotiations and to achieve the desired progress, noting the Quartet's important role in this context. The meeting also reviewed the results of the regional tour of US Secretary of State John Kerry and his meetings with Palestinian and Israeli officials as well as his meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II, where Judeh stressed Jordan's support for all efforts to achieve peace. The minister reiterated that Jordan considers the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital as a top national interest, noting that Jordan is interested in all the final status issues, since they are directly linked to its key interests. Blair, on his part, stressed the Quartet's appreciation for the efforts exerted by Jordan to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, stressing that the committee supports these efforts.
