Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh and Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni on Wednesday discussed bilateral relations and the challenges facing the Middle East and efforts to deal with them, Petra News Agency reported.
Judeh and Gentiloni stressed the importance of intensifying consultations between Jordan and Italy, especially as Jordan assumes the UN Security Council's presidency and enjoys historical ties with Italy at all levels.
They also discussed challenges facing the region, especially the fight against extremism and terrorism, and the importance of intensifying efforts and coordination to counter this phenomenon.
The two ministers reviewed the ongoing crisis in Syria and the absence of a political solution so far, as well as the recent events and developments in Yemen and military operations there to support its legitimacy.
Judeh and the Italian minister also reviewed the situation in Libya.
They also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian arena and the absence of serious negotiations to resolve the issue.
