The government on Friday congratulated Pope Francis I on his election as the new leader of the Catholic Church.In a statement to the Jordan News Agency, State Minister for Media Affairs and Communication and Culture Minister Samih Maaytah expressed hope that the new Pope would continue to defend the values of peace, human dignity and interfaith dialogue.He also voiced Jordan’s keenness to cooperate with the Vatican to promote moderation and spread peace and interfaith dialogue, stressing the strong ties between Jordan and the Vatican.
