King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday discussed with visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, scopes of cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the economic, trade and investment fields. At the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the King said Jordan is keen to take further steps to boost bilateral cooperation to include the energy and information technology sectors. Quoted by Petra news agency, he said that the agreements that have been signed between the two countries as well as the Jordanian-Hungarian Business Forum held in Amman, will pave the way for stronger partnership between Jordan and Hungary with the participation of the private sector. The King and the Hungarian prime minister pointed to prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism, water, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and the exchange of expertise in the nuclear energy field. The meeting also dealt with the current situation in the Middle East and efforts to achieve peace and end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution. King Abdullah reviewed the latest developments in Syria and its repercussions on the security and stability of the region’s countries, pointing to the economic burden the Kingdom is shouldering as a result of hosting growing numbers of Syrian refugees.
